Beginning with the 2010-2011 season the NRI Vikings will hold Spring Try-Outs for Mite A, Squirt A, B, C &  PeeWee A, B, C. Birth Year: PeeWee: (’98, ’99), Squirt: (’00, ’01), Mite: (’02 and younger)

Through-out the US and Canada, spring tryouts for youth hockey organizations have been deemed more beneficial due to a strong desire of organizations and coaches to evaluate the skaters at the heights of their game on the heels of the previous season, as well as players’ end-of-summer availability. NRI wants to provide skaters with every opportunity to show their skills, while at the same time fostering thorough and consistent evaluations at the tryouts.

Henceforth, tryouts for the NRI Vikings’ Mite A, Squirt A, B, C &  PeeWee A, B, C travel teams will be held in early May, prior to the start of the following season. Due to Bantam and Midget scheduling, Bantam and Midget level tryouts, as well as Mite B & C, will continue to occur in late August.

Registration and Tryout dates and times will be posted on the NRI Vikings website (www.nrivikings.com). In order to tryout, a player must be paid in full for the prior season and an initial $100 non-refundable deposit made for the 2010 - 2011 season.

The number of tryout sessions per level may vary. All skaters and goaltenders that wish to be considered for an NRI Viking travel team must attend tryouts. Depending on the number of children trying out, it is possible that some children who attend tryouts may not make a travel team. Based on the number of children trying out at each level, a decision will be made as to the number of teams for each division and the number of skaters per team. Initial rosters will be set in May, however, they may not be finalized until the season gets under way.

Registration for spring try-outs will tentatively take place on Wednesday, April 7th and Wednesday April 14th at the Smithfield Senior Center, forms will be posted on the website shortly. All players must have up-to-date USA hockey registrations in order to register.

Try-outs will take place on the following dates: Friday May 7th, Friday May 14th and Sunday May 16th.
